Apartment-Hunting

So far at work, I've had a kid throw up, pee himself, and a *lot* of crying kids!! All in a day's work!

The rush hour traffic is awful in the morning, so despite living only 6 km away from work, it takes a tedious 40 minutes!! Of course I also don't like getting up so early either!

So I have located an apartment much closer to where I work.
Fourth floor bedroom
I love that I have a bath here, and though it's a bit small, I don't need much space for myself.

At only $300 per month, I can't really complain! The cost of living here is *ridiculously* cheap. The taxi journey to work costs less than half the starting cost in Tokyo! Local food and vegetables are also ridiculously cheap. Imported snacks are about the same or slightly less than Japan.

Actually I have a confession.. although I promised Toshi I wouldn't, I ended up riding the Estate Agent's Xe Om ̣motorbike) to the house.. oops!
And despite the crazy traffic, it was pretty fun and exhilirating!

Clare's First Day in Hanoi

After an unenventful and rather boring flight to Ha Noi, I was greeted by Toshi at the airport! A sight for sore eyes!!
An interesting way to board the plane at Guangzhou

My new neighbourhood

The next morning we had a yummy street sandwich and pho for breakfast and checked out Vincom Tower where my interview would be the next day.

Then we sat by Hoan Kiem Lake and caught up on the last two months!

I passed my interview for the kindergarten where I wanted to work and I start tomorrow morning from 8!

They have their own Youtube channel, aren't they just adorable, and doesn't it look fun!?

Moving details!

As some of you have been asking, here are my details:

I have one week left at work, and finish on Tuesday 21st. I have 4 farewell parties to look forward to!!! (*^^*)/

Then I will spend the next few days packing up, getting rid of stuff (I have to pay to have my furniture disposed of), wait for people to take my final utility readings, give back the keys etc etc.

On Saturday 25th I fly to Ha Noi changing at Guangzhou in China (2 hour transit).
Details: Departure 15.30 JST (07.30 BST) - Guangzhou - Ha Noi Arrival 23.15 (17.15pm BST)

I have already found my apartment, 1km from Toshi's; here's a sneaky preview picture:
Half the price of my apartment in Tokyo and almost double the size!

I passed the first interview (via Skype) for the Kindergarten job I really want, and I have a final interview lined up on Monday Aug 27th.
Here is the website of the company I really, really want to work for!!!

Actually if I get the job with them, I will have my accommodation provided and it will be in a very cool and fashionable part of Hanoi. Imagine living on Oxford Street in London or in Shinjuku in Tokyo!

Toshi's Beach Trip

Last weekend Toshi on the beach 5 hours from Ha Noi on a company trip. Apparently over 1,000 factory employees in 29 buses joined the overnight trip! I'm so jealous!

The pleace I might be working at apparently has a yummy donut and crepe shop- yay! Mr. Sweet Toshi himself has a good reason to visit my workplace then!
